Current time Mersing Harbour Centre:
Mersing is an erstwhile sleepy fisherman's kampong that reinvented itself as the defacto jumping board to Tioman Island once Tioman became the famous paradise island that it is today. Mersing is located about a 2+ two hour's drive from Singapore's side of the Woodlands check point. If you're coming from Kuala Lumpur, then it's about a five hour trip.
Whilst Mersing is an interesting little town with plenty of things to see and do, most travelers that come here are just transients headed for one of the dozen or so bounty island off Peninsular Malaysia's east coast, of which Tioman is the most well-known one. But there's also Pulau Besar, Rawa, Aur and Dayang to name a few.
If you're one of these travelers and you're looking for a good enough and affordable hotel room in which to spend the night before hopping across to Tioman or one of the other islands, then this page can be helpful.
Another quite useful website is the one of Mersing Harbour Centre. This tourism complex was opened recently and is currently the one and only one-top shop that covers the entire Mersing area, both offshore and inland. It also gives a full overview of all Mersing's accommodations.
